Where Pages Inspire Pens and Connection is at the Heart of Every Story
More Than a Bookshop
At SE&B, you don’t have to be a hardcore bibliophile or bestselling author to belong. We are committed to serving our readers, writers, and our community to the best of our abilities, regardless of the skills, preferences, and backgrounds our customers bring to the table (and the bookshelves).
for readers
We believe that anyone can be a reader—it just takes finding the right book. At The Story Emporium and Bookshop we are committed to carefully curating books with both mass-market and niche appeal. We don’t rule any book out based on the size of the publisher or an author’s social media following, but carefully consider each book and the value it may have for the right audience. In our store you will find everything from Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros to Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy—and all kinds of books in between and beyond!
for writers
While books are our first love (and if you’re here, we reckon they might be yours as well), we understand that every book starts as an idea. We strive to help every writer put their ideas in ink, supporting storytellers of all experience levels and genres in both fiction and non-fiction with tailored workshops, one-on-one support, time-tested tools of the craft, and coordinated retreats through our production partner Story Sirens Studio.
for community
The power of community can be life-changing. Through a variety of community-building events and outreach programs, we strive to become a cherished community anchors. Our community engagement includes more than merely sourcing products from local creators (although make no mistake, we certainly do). In addition to encouraging readings and book signings from local and independent artists, we regularly host workshops and seminars to encourage and equip local business owners, participate in local events, host fun, themed story-times to encourage early literacy, and are working toward offering free and low-cost tutoring in reading, writing, and language arts.
